Textual Notes from Largs on the Firth of Clyde

woman paddling
in shallow water
circles, kicks, circles

sounds waver
in gelatinous air -
hover, quiver,
resonate wrapped
in brass

a jumble of land,
Bute, Argyll, Cumbrae,
rolling over and under
itself

glint of light at
crest of wavelet

spear piercing
surface of water
at pier's end

lamposts on
the prom
thin, stern,
comical

children knee deep
in sea water -
innocent, exotic

tin bark/tin barque
bay a tin bowl
with liquid lid

voices softened
